Robot vacuums are getting smarter and more skillful. While it’s kinda scary if the robots in question are like those animatronic dogs from Boston Dynamics… if they have no legs and they’re cleaning your house, that’s probably okay. And benevolent bot is what I’m expecting with the Roborock Q Revo, Roborock’s brand new, hot-off-the-press robot floor cleaner. Roborock recently sent me one of these new robots ahead of its launch, and is also offering to give one to one of my readers. Skip to the bottom for info.
In this Roborock Q review review I will share what’s new about this bot, and what makes it different from other Roborock devices, I’ll test out its key features to see if they deliver the goods, I’ll run it through some cleaning tests and then I’ll wrap things up by sharing whether or not I think this would be a good investment for you. Roborock Q Revo
Summary
Roborock has created a solid floor-cleaning bot that shaves hundreds of dollars off the price of its premium bots, yet gives you almost all the same features.
Pros
- Easy to set up easy to use
- Simple to schedule.
- Cleans extremely well on both carpet and hard floors
- Design is nice and compact
Cons
- None – vacuum does more with simpler, updated technology and design
What is the Roborock Q Revo?
The Roborock Q Revo is a floor cleaning bot that can both vacuum and mop floors and take care of the maintenance. Unlike some other bots, this one uses dual spinning mopping pads instead of a vibrating flat pad to mop the floors, and that’s one of its key differentiators.
The device comes with a multifunctional dock that can carry out tasks like emptying the dustbin, washing, and drying the mops with warm air to prevent mildewing.
See my hands-on video review
The maintenance features make it an attractive option for people who would not only prefer not to clean their homes or offices fully by themselves, they want to skip 90% of the maintenance too.
The Q Revo seems to be positioned as a mid to high-level floor bot that gives you about 80-90% of the features of some other bots in the Roborock family, but without the high price tags of bots like the S8 Pro Ultra and S7 Max V Ultra.
What’s missing?
If you take a look at Roborock’s comparison chart, you’ll see that the Roborock Q Revo is really only missing two things one compared to those other bots I mentioned. Those two things are high-speed sonic mopping, and automatic brush lifting. I may be jumping the gun here, but given the money you’ll save on different versions of Roborock bots, this might not be worth the extra spend anyway.
The Roborock Q revo price satarts from $899 USD, while the other premium bots in the Roborock line sell for $1200-1500.
The other notable difference is that there’s just one roller brush under the Q Revo while on the S8 there’s two. I’ll see in my cleaning tests if that makes a bit difference.
Special Features
While many of the features of the device are similar to Roborock’s other offerings, there are some notable differences in the Q Revo, mainly with the mopping system. Previous floor mops used Roborock’s VibraRise system, but the Q Revo uses a newer technology that allows it to go beyond just barely lifting the mop off of carpets. Instead this version can clear carpet fibres by automatic mop lifting of 3 millimeters, while the Q Revo offers 7 millimeters of lifting. This means that the mops will automatically rise 7 millimeters when the device senses carpet that needs to be vacuumed, giving the device the capability of doing both vacuuming and mopping in one run, meaning no need to stop and remove the mopping plates in order to vacuum carpets. To do this accurately, it won’t come as any surprise that the queue Revo also has carpet detection technologies built in.
Speaking of carpet, this bot has a substantial 5500pa of suction power which is on the higher end for floor bots, and only just a smidge under the Roborock S8’s 6,000pa.
The Q Revo also features Deep Carpet Cleaning technology as well as Clean Along Floor Direction capabilities. Roborock says this device also has 6x faster quick mapping and multi-level 3D map displays.
The dock has some design improvements that make it a little nicer than some other iterations. It’s taller and more narrow than other similar robots giving it a bit more of an elegant look which I’ve been after. The maintenance tanks across the front are covered by a nice fluted plastic panel.
Design & Size
The dimensions of the Q Revo’s vacuum/mop device (in millimeters) are 350Wx353Dx96.5H and the dimensions of the multifunctional dock are 340Wx487Dx561H. The wheels and brushes on the device are made with what Roborock calls ‘ScratchSafe technology’ which in essence just protects flooring.
*The vacuum/mop duo also has quiet cleaning technology to reduce the overall noise. I can say I already found this bot operates far more quietly than most; so does that mean it’s not picking up as much? We’ll find out when we get to the cleaning tests.
The device utilizes Sensient Sensor Array technology, which uses things like accelerometers, infrared sensors, and a compass to develop a 360-degree field of view to develop mappings and navigation routes. It is also made with a washable E11-rated air filter.
Set Up and Assembly
The setup with every Roborock vacuum I’ve ever tried has been quick and easy. It’s a simple matter of plugging in the robot and ensuring its base station can be in a location with a decent amount of space around it so the robot can come and go as needed. The base station is quite large and can be a challenge to place, but this is the price we pay for all the fun features it comes with.
Roborock app
Once the robot is connected to power and has a partial charge, you can connect it to the free Roborock app. The app will become your command centre for scheduling cleans, turning the robot on and off, and adjusting some of the more advanced features. The app is very easy to use and extremely user-friendly so it’s easy enough to find anything you need to manage. Your final setup steps will involve connecting the robot to Wi-Fi using your smartphone and you can give it a name. When everything is set up the first order of business will be to send it out on its initial run so it can learn your house.
Mapping is fast and accurate
During its initial mapping run the Roborock Q Revo will roll quietly throughout your house and use its array of cameras and sensors to create an accurate virtual map. The Q Revo uses the PreciSense LiDAR Navigation system, which is also utilized by some of Roborock’s other products. LiDAR, which stands for Light Detection and Ranging, utilizes light to create a navigation and mapping plan.
This is an extremely quick process and the map I got was very accurate after just one 25-minute jaunt.
With a full map done in minutes, you can use the Roborock app to label rooms, then create any ‘no-go zones’ you want to keep it out of.
Dock Features
Perhaps one of the most advanced features of Roborock’s new product is its multifunctional dock. With both a clean water tank and a dirty water tank on top, plus a panel under those that holds the sealed vacuum bag, the design is efficient.
Warm air drying
The dock is self-washing, meaning the mop pads are scrubbed after each use, and it also dries the mops itself using warm air at 45 degrees Celsius. This helps speed the drying process and minimizes the development of mold and mildew which can start to smell after a while. A full drain cycle does take four hours, though you can adjust it to be two or three hours instead and it is completely silent so it shouldn’t bother anyone day or night.
In addition, the onboard dustbin on the robot does not have to be emptied after every use; it is self-emptying. Roborock says users can go seven weeks without emptying it. I tested this robot out over approximately three weeks and I can say it did not fill up during that time.
Regarding the mopping, the robot fills up an onboard water tank from the larger tank in the docking station (which in total holds enough water to mop up to 4,305 square feet overall). The base of the dock can also be removed, making it easier to clean, since the self-cleaning process can leave dirty residue in the tray.
Testing: how well does it clean?
I run every single robot vacuum and mopping device that I get through exactly the same tests. I spill things like flour oatmeal rice and crackers on both carpet and hard floors to see how well it vacuums. For the mopping, I will spill small amounts of liquid and let some of those dry, to create dried-on stains.
Vacuum Testing
The vacuum worked like a dream. It was easily able to vacuum up all of my dedicated spills and did a particularly great job getting all of the flour from carpet fibers, which can be a tough task for a robot vacuum.
It’s possible to dial the section up or down depending on how dirty or dusty your house is. This also adjusts the noise level so if you are working during the day for example you can run the vacuum on low and still get a clean in.
Mopping Tests
The Roborock Q Revo has adjustable water flow for the mopping, so you can get a more thorough clean or protect wood floors by using less water.
The mop also worked really well easily wiping up small drips and spills, with the spinning scrub brushes able to scour off all but the most stubborn dried-on stains, getting about 98% of the floor clean.
You can also adjust the frequency of the mop washing. If you want to clean the floors with more clean water, set this frequency to be more often. If you’d rather it just got through a clean quickly, you can set the time to take a little bit longer.
Hazard Avoidance & Object Recognition
The Q Revo features Roborock’s ‘Reactive Tech Obstacle Avoidance technology’, which helps the device avoid things like cords and small objects. This prevents users from having to thoroughly clean up the floor before turning on the device, as it can detect many obstacles and maneuver around them.
Roborock floor cleaning bots are some of the best in the industry when it comes to avoiding hazards and obstacles, meaning they are more often able to fully complete a cleaning task without getting stuck. I had the same experience with this version with no stalls or entrapments.
Scheduled Cleaning and Custom Routines
One of the greatest features of robot cleaning devices is the ability to set scheduled cleanings, and the Q Revo is no different. Cleaning routines can be set in the app, meaning users have the freedom to choose which specific room(s) they want cleaned at any time.
Other Features/Specs
Roborock says its Q Revo is “just a call away” thanks to its voice control capabilities. The device works with Google Home, Apple’s Siri Shortcuts, and Amazon Alexa to carry out the tasks users give it via their voices.
Off-peak fast charging
Perhaps one of the most unique features of the Q Revo is that it charges 30% faster at night (i.e., off-peak hours), which contributes to creating a more eco-friendly environment. This is a nice touch for people who don’t absolutely have to charge their devices during the day and are comfortable allowing them to charge overnight.
I searched the settings for how to enable this feature but couldn’t see a setting for it so I reached out to Roborock to ask. It turns out you can find the setting for this in Settings> Robot settings and look for ‘Off peak charging’.
Roborock Q Revo : Overall review:
Overall, Roborock has created a solid floor-cleaning bot that shaves hundreds of dollars off the price of its premium bots, yet gives you almost all the same features.
It’s easy to set up easy to use, and super simple to schedule. It cleans extremely well on both carpet and hard floors and does a great job both vacuuming and mopping. I also think that the design is quite nice and makes it look more like a device you don’t need to hide under a table or in a closet.
So what are the downsides? Is this one I’m really having a hard time finding major negatives. While I guess some other robots have dual vacuum rollers, this one doesn’t seem to suffer from having just a single one. And being without a sonic high-speed mop is not a problem, because that technology has been replaced with dual spinning mopping pads.
Roborock Q Revo sells for about $899US/$1200CAD and you can get it from Roborock or Amazon.

Great review – I would love to have this to clean all the rooms in my house 🙂
Wow! This vacuum has got some awesome features. As a busy mum, anything that automates my processes will always be welcome. This will be great for my kitchen and living room especially. I particularly like the self drying option so no need to wiat before reuse. Love it!
Great review! I have 2 pet bunnies that are very spoiled and get the run of the kitchen, so having a robot vacuum like this would be super handy to clean up after those fur balls. 🙂
Great review – vacuuming and mopping are my least favourite chores to do so I would love to have the Roborock clean all the floors but especially the kitchen 🙂
I really like the idea of not having to swap out vacuum accessories for mopping accessories
& the mop pads being scrubbed after each use, and how also dries the mops itself. Would love this for the main floor of my house as it is almost all bare floors with the exception of 1 room so the fact that this can sense there is carpet is amazing … I’ve been hunting for a replacement for my iRobot vacuum because I wanted one that could also mop but have been stumped as to what might be a good option. Up until now I haven’t seen anything that even peaked my interest, thanks for testing this out and reviewing it this might actually be the one I’ve been dreaming about😊
Great review Erin – very informative. Hmmm – what room would I use it in most? Well – I’ve got 3 kids so – the kitchen? Lots of crumbs and spills. The bathroom? I’ve got a little boy who doesn’t always aim effectively. The Living Room? Mopping up those muddy footprints. The bedrooms? (The rule about no food upstairs isn’t always adhered to.) Let’s be honest – everywhere! 😉
Another Fantastic review and great product! Thanks Erin
The roborock Q revo sounds like a super handy dandy household item. I really appreciate the honest review you’ve provided Erin! I would absolutely love to use this in the kitchen/dining room area. As a collage student it can be difficult to keep up with the household cleaning, especially during exam season. It would definitely save me a lot of time in which I can put towards studying (or even napping lol).
The kitchen. With a toddler who both intentionally and unintentionally drops food, and an infant about to start solids, I need cleanliness and sanity!!!
i would love to have this unity track my puppy, everywhere he goes but mainly our family room. He leaves a trail everywhere he goes.
I’ve been wanting a robot vacuum for ages. This one sounds absolutely perfect. I’d definitely use it on my kitchen floor, where my 100lbs dogs likes to drink and drool his water everywhere!
I really enjoyed your review. Great information and with a dog, I would be pleased to use this in my kitchen and on laminate flooring throughout house. I am glad to see flexibility of moving from floor to area rugs, one of the things I was concerned about how it would work. Thanks for this.

Very thorough review, thank you Erin. I need it for our top floor where the kitchen is. It gets dirty within hours of just cleaning it!
Great information Erin. This unit would work great on my laminate floors and carpeted bedroom areas. I love the mapping technology and how it avoids running into objects like cat food bowls!
It’s gotta be the kitchen floors I would unleash this bad boy upon. Mop! Mop you autonomous cleaning wonder! Mop!
It’s gotta be the kitchen floors I would unleash this bad boy upon. Mop! Mop you autonomous cleaning wonder! Mop
Great review Erin. This robot vacuum would meet the needs of our laminate and carpeted main floor living perfectly! With two cats leaving hair and food kibbles on the laminate, I’m sweeping up their ‘gifts’ daily. The Roborock Q Revo would make life easier to have it do a clean early each morning before my first cup of coffee!
Great review. nice time saver. Thanks for the chance to win
Another great review. I have been using a robot vacuum for a few years but haven’t seriously considered a vacuum/mop combination until now. This looks like it would keep my kitchen floors squeaky clean.
This would be wonderful now if only they invented something that purged and organized the house.
Wow! This sounds absolutely amazing! The room that would need this the most would be the kitchen/living room! With two poms and all the fur and little accidents this would be a dream and time saver as I am constantly vacuuming and mopping pretty much daily, even hourly.
Wow this is so neat. Thanks for the awesome review, have always wondered about the use of these things.
This review has me seriously considering investing in this model. Count me in for the sweepstakes – who knows, this might be the start of my robot cleaning dream team.
OMG. This would save so much time for my sister! She has a cat, a large dog, and 2 little boys who are very creative…which results in them leaving crumbs EVERYWHERE!
This would be great for our basement
I want the Q Revo to clean our entertainment room in the basement because we spend a lot of time down there and it is a big space – thanks for the generous contest & chance to win!!
Absolutely fantastic review, as expected from Erin! The Roborock is truly impressive, and its feature allowing you to direct it to clean specific rooms is simply amazing. I can’t help but wish to have it take care of my busy main hallway with hardwood floors, which constantly collects footprints, regardless of the season – be it summer or winter!
I’ve been thinking of getting one of these vacuums for sometime and with so many versions of these vacuums I appreciate your reviews in helping me narrow down my search. This one is a bit pricey but will keep it on my list, just need to convince my husband why we need a $1,500 vacuum Lol
Cool gadget. Might even get the husband to do some house cleaning
The kitchen. Because we have a toddler and an infant who consistently spell foods are having that cleaned up all the time would be great
I’d use it in my kitchen. As well as the vacuum, it would be great to clear up spills on the hardwood floor.
Keep up the great work 👍
what a wonderful gift for my mum.
Sure would like to win! Sounds like an amazing device
I’d like Q Revo to keep the kitchen clean, where dust bunnies grow and prosper.
I’d love to use the Roborock Q Revo for my living room. Our dog loves to roll around in the grass and this would be great!!
This looks like the perfect addition to the main level of my house. There is a combination of hard and soft flooring, so this unit would be perfect.
Enjoy your newsletters. The Roborock looks like a great appliance to have in my home.
I could really use this system. I live in a bungalow with mostly hardwood flooring so this would be perfect for me.
This looks amazing! I could really use it on my main floor, with dark wood flooring and a white dog!
I would love to use this roborock on my main floor. I have hardwood and a large area carpet. With 4 long haired cats coming in and out from the backyardI need a vacuum that can clean up the pet hair and mop too. This is the one for me! Hope I win it (so do Biff, Blue, Micah and Marlee — my 4 gorgeous cats)! Thank you!
I have a Proscenic M8 robot vacuum. At the time of purchase, the Roborock was not available to me in my area. Roborock continues to get very good reviews!
Does the mop really work. My current robomop barely touches the dog paw prints in the winter.
Hi Erin, Can the Q Revo vacuum without its twin mop plates attached?
Great question; yes, you just need to set it to vacuum mode so it doesn’t think they’re missing in action! 🙂
