If you’ve just gotten a new 2021 Samsung Frame TV, you’re probably enjoying Art Mode and Ambient mode. But what if you want something a bit more personal up on the biggest screen in the house? With a Samsung Frame TV app it’s possible to add your own photos and snapshots to the Frame TV and it’s actually pretty easy.

Still wondering if the Frame TV is right for you? Price it out here at Best Buy or see my full review of the 2021 Samsung Frame TV.

How to put your own photos on the 2021 Samsung Frame TV

To start with Samsung Frame TV pictures, you’ll need the Samsung Smart Things app, and you’ll need the app to control your TV with your phone anyway and adjust all kinds of settings.

In the SmartThings app:

  • Click on Your TV.
  • Choose Art Mode.
  • Select Add your Photos.
  • Surf for and then select the photos you’d like to bring to the Frame.
  • Once you’ve added them you’ll find them in My Collection> Photos on the Frame.

Tap to choose the photo you want to display. You may add a matte to the images if you want, and you can even apply creative effects to make your photo appear like a painting or sketch if you like (like the photo at the top of this page).

It’s worth noting that you can’t change orientation or make any major photo editing adjustments in the Smart Things app for Samsung Frame TV, so ensure you’ve done all that before you send it to the TV.

How to create a slideshow on Samsung Frame TV

To make a Slideshow, follow the steps above, but before selecting an individual photo, pick Slideshow or Slideshow-Random.

That’s how to add personal photos and family memories to the Samsung Picture Frame TV. You can shop The Frame at Best Buy Canada or Amazon, below, or read up on why I think the Frame TV is the last TV you’ll ever want to own. Check out Amazon’s pricing below. You can also shop Samsung’s Frame TV at Walmart.

Erin, do I have to purchase the little box from Samsung for art, in order to just use my own photos? Or can I forgo that purchase and still upload a photo?

FYI I believe things have changed. I followed your instructions, but the SmartThings app does not show anything for adding personal photos, but there is an option to UPGRADE at a cost that I really am not prepared to to pay. This sort of functionality should not be withheld from customers who paid $1000+ for the technology. What’s next? You buy an 8K TV but you can’t actually use it unless you pay monthly to `unlock’ it?
