Review: FOREO LUNA 4 plus – this device actually combines all the best of ALL FOREO gadgets in one!

FOREO is known for making high quality skincare gadgets that can help to solve a variety of skincare concerns. I’ve been lucky enough to try many of them, and I’ve often wondered if there could be a way to combine the best of several FOREO devices into one magical device… Like the heat and LED light of a FOREO UFO2, the microcurrent benefits of FOREO BEAR, plus the cleansing basics of FOREO’s T-Sonic pulsations found in LUNA cleansers. Now it looks like that magical device of my dreams is for real. The brand new FOREO LUNA 4 plus is a new and improved facial cleansing brush with new added benefits. In this review I’ll look at what’s new and how the features work, how it cleans and if I can recommend this new device for you.

What is FOREO LUNA 4 plus?

LUNA 4 plus is the only facial cleansing device with both clinical-grade anti-aging treatments including targeted microcurrent, plus thermo & LED light therapy in one device.

On the front of the brush are the soft silicone bristles, plus a ring of LED lights. On the back is the massage side and two microcurrent pins.

What is LED light therapy?

Interspersed among the silicone touchpoints are eight small LED lights. These near-infrared LED lights are meant to help reverse signs of skin aging (and we see this in sun spots & dullness for example, and if you’re anything like me you’re starting to see some of that). The red LEDs are also said to increase collagen and elastin production, which could help restore the thickness and elasticity of typically youthful skin.

What is Thermo-Cleansing?

Those eight lights have another purpose! They also provide heat, and that’s known as thermo-cleansing, which is a fancy term for cleaning with heat! It’s actually really nice to use a warm face brush to wash up with! I loved cleansing with this brush, because it was warm and gentle and relaxing; kind of like wrapping yourself up in a comfy bathrobe.

FOREO says thermo-therapy’s gentle heat melts away 99.5% of dirt, oil, and makeup residue with the help of its precision thermo-cleansing beads integrated into the silicone brush surface.

But it’s not just about being cozy; that thermo-therapy can also help your skincare products penetrate better too. Turn your brush on and use it to apply night cream, serum or moisturizers; day or night.

What is Microcurrent technology?

The last major addition of tech to this brush is microcurrent technology.

If you’ve checked out my review of FOREO BEAR, you know that microcurrent devices are designed to plump skin, tone your facial muscles and boost elasticity.

These devices use tiny, almost imperceptible electric shocks to tone, wake up and improve your skin which can also help improve the look of fine lines.

All the treatments are accessed inside the FORAO app and it allows you to choose, adjust and customize your treatments, get tips and even find a lost device.
The device has 3 cleansing modes, adjustable massage patterns, and 16 intensities.

How to use new LUNA 4 plus: Cleansing, Skincare, Toning

Let’s take a look at the three ways to use your LUNA 4 plus. I used it for cleansing, to help augment my skincare routine, and for microcurrent toning, and I really loved it.

LUNA 4 plus is meant for cleansing more thoroughly than you can with a washcloth or makeup remover wipes alone. Here’s what happens when I use a makeup remover wipe only, then follow with a toner—there’s still plenty of makeup residue left behind! When I follow my makeup removal with FOREO LUNA 4 plus, it erases all remaining traces of makeup, dirt and oil.

T-Sonic pulsations gently massage the skin to remove dead skin cells and boost micro-circulation while also delivering nutrients to skin cells and eliminating toxins, and encouraging lymphatic drainage—and it takes only one minute. Add in the LED lights for more benefits, and the intensity of the light is adjustable in the app.

To cleanse, it’s as simple as pressing the start button, or choosing one of the cleansing modes from the FOREO app. The app will also allow you to lengthen or shorten your cleansing cycle if you prefer.

I used my LUNA 4 plus each night to remove makeup and to wash my skin of dirt and oil buildup. I quite like the gentle heating, particularly as it’s winter and the additional warmth is quite nice.

Using the microcurrent.

Next, your LUNA 4 plus can help with the rest of your skincare routine: Using the LUNA both morning and night can help prep your skin since it enables the active ingredients in your creams, serums & masks to penetrate deeper and absorb better into skin.

I applied my night cream and eye cream then used LUNA 4 plus to help the creams absorb better; plus that near-infrared LED light is a great skincare booster too.
Finally I used LUNA 4 plus as a microcurrent facial toning device; it’s just like a mini version of BEAR to firm and tone your skin. Choose one of the Massage programs, adjust your intensity and don’t forget to apply serum so the microcurrent can be conducted properly and safely into your skin.

I often used the microcurrent settings in the morning to help me put my best face forward for the day. The microcurrent treatments don’t hurt in any way, and I noticed a bit of a lift and brightening after using it—similar to the glow you get after a great night’s rest.

In all, the new FOREO LUNA 4 plus is the only gadget I need to keep on my bathroom counter; it does it all. Plus since it’s waterproof, I can use it and leave it in the shower too. If you’re traveling, this is the one device you want to bring with you.

Overall this device has some new features and benefits that make it a true all-in-one device and I can say it is my new FOREO go-to device. It’s great for cleansing with those T-Sonic pulsations, for boosting the absorption of creams and serums thanks to heat and LED light therapy, and for delivering anti ageing benefits using microcurrent toning. I’m sure thrilled with what it can do for my skin, and I know you’ll love it too.
